Passaic County e-Newsletter - Winter 2014

Dear Passaic County Resident,

On behalf of the entire Freeholder Board, I am proud to pass along the latest edition of the Passaic County Quarterly e-Newsletter. We continue to move Passaic County forward with stabilized taxes, strategic investments and a new County Park Master Plan that is going to make our county parks a destination for families in the Tri-State Area.

Over the past nine years, 80% of our roads were paved and every bridge in Passaic County is either repaired, under repair, or in design to be repaired. We understand that making Passaic County a destination for businesses and families alike is an investment needed to be made.

Our shared services agreement with Essex County consolidating our Youth Detention Center continues to save $10 million annually. Through new programs for our young people, we are keeping them out of jail and in the classroom. Since this deal was inked, we have significantly reduced our youth incarceration rate.

Finally, Passaic County received four positive upgrades from Moody’s Financial Services and a “AA” rating from Standard & Poors – the highest credit rating in our history. This is saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest payments that can now be used to keep taxes stable and invest in our future.

As always, our office is open to any Passaic County resident seeking constituent services. Please visit our County website at www.passaiccountynj.org to file an online request for help to obtain other important information. Thank you for the continued confidence in our work, and we wish everyone a Happy and Healthy 2014!

-Freeholder Director Pat Lepore
