Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the members of the Passaic County Film Commission are sponsoring the 12th annual Passaic County Film Festival 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016.

The event will take place at the Fabian Theater 8 in the upper level at Center City Mall, 301 Main Street, Paterson.

A selection of short films will be seen on the big screen. There is free admission to the festival and it is open to the public. A Free parking voucher for the underground parking garage at Center City Mall will be provided at the film festival, courtesy of Fabian 8 Cinema and Center City Mall.

Over one hundred films were submitted to the festival this year by students and independent film makers who live, attend school or work in Passaic County.

Film entries are 10 minutes in length and are in the following categories: general short film; public service announcement; music video and documentary/historic film. The films were judged by members of the Passaic County Film Commission in February.

Awards will be presented at the festival and one Grand Prize for the best film of the festival will also be awarded. The North Jersey Federal Credit Union will also be awarding a special award to support film makers in Passaic County.

The objective of the Passaic County Film Festival is to support students and independent film makers by providing a public forum in which to showcase their films.

The Film Festival is sponsored by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders with additional financial support from the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College, through a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, North Jersey Federal Credit Union, Bascom Corporation, Ross International and the Passaic County Community College Foundation.
