Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders Holds Public Meetings in Little Falls

Passaic County, NJ – May 2, 2016 – The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders held the April 26, 2016 public meeting at Little Falls Town Hall. The county freeholders have scheduled public meetings throughout the County in an effort to promote communication with more residents.

According to Freeholder Sandi Lazzara of Little Falls, this is an effort to bring county government closer to residents throughout Passaic County. The change in venue is part of a Freeholder initiative to directly touch more constituents and make county government more open and available.

“This is about making it more convenient for residents to participate in our county government. My colleagues and I want to make it easier for local residents to join us,” added Freeholder Director Theodore “T.J.” Best.

Members of the Freeholder Board as well as county department heads and staff were available to interact with residents before, during and after the Freeholder Board meeting. Over the past few years, the Board of Chosen Freeholders has met in every one of the sixteen municipalities throughout the County.
During the public meeting, Passaic County presented Open Space checks for two projects based in Little Falls totaling $$165.000, which included the following investments in parks and open space:

1) $15,000 to the local Historic Commission is requesting funds to prepare both a needs assessment as well as pursue historic designation for this former police department and municipal building.
2) $150,000 to the Township of Little Falls for active recreational fields (baseball, football, soccer, and tennis) need upgraded lighting system
This year the Board will hold traveling freeholder meetings in Wanaque on July 19th , Woodland Park on October 11th, and Wayne on September 13th. The traveling meetings provide an opportunity for Freeholders to share their vision for Passaic County.
