Garret Mountain Reservation - Park Roadway Closure

As part of the Garret Mountain Improvements project, the County’s Contractor (Thomas & Sons Builders) will be replacing the large drainage pipe that crosses the park roadway adjacent to the 3 tier parking area.  The replacement requires the demolition of the existing twin pipes and headwalls, installing the new headwalls, new pipe, backfill, pavement restoration, and guide rail.

During this construction activity, the park roadway will be closed to vehicle traffic from the Mountain Ave entrance to the Weasel Drift Road exit (i.e. no vehicle access to 3 tier parking lot and the boathouse).  The Contractor will install the necessary signage and traffic control devices.  Note – Pedestrians will be allowed to access as there is a small pedestrian crossing and trails downstream of the drainage pipe.  Vehicle access will remain accessible from the Weasel Drift Road entrance to the Mountain Avenue exit (i.e. Tower picnic grove, Great Meadow, Communication Tower, Auto Overlook areas will remain open).

The Contractor will be performing prep work on Monday (May 14).  He anticipates closing the park roadway section (Mountain Ave to Weasel Drift) on Tuesday (May 15).  The roadway section will be reopened by Friday afternoon (May 18).
