The Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs coordinates all solid waste and recycling planning functions for the municipalities of Passaic County, to include solid waste and recycling facility reviews, recycling collection and disposal programs, educational programming, and public outreach activities. The Office also administers the NJ Clean Communities litter prevention program, and is responsible for overseeing the in-house solid waste and recycling program for Passaic County’s facilities and parks. This program is free of charge to Passaic County Residents - proof of residency required. Up to 6 "Banker Boxes" worth of paper accepted per household. (10"x13"x16"). Participants must take back containers all documents were brought in.

Used Bicycle and Sewing Machine Collection Event 
We are collecting bikes and sewing machines to be put to good use in the developing world in countries like Ghana, Tanzania, Albania, Fiji and Guatemala. 

Bicycle Recycling      
  • Bikes should be rust free
  • No children's tricycles
  • Bikes with flat tires or needing repairs accepted
  • Portable sewing machines must be working
       This event will be open 9:00 a.m. to Noon - Rain or Shine

       Donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided

Tire Recycling Collections

Compost bins cost $54.95 (includes free scrap bucket) and Rain Barrels cost $69.95. Prices include tax; cash or check accepted. Limited supply. Fluorescent/LED Bulb and Hazardous Battery Collection

Light BulbsThe Passaic County Office of Solid Waste and Recycling will host a Fluorescent/LED Bulb and Hazardous Battery Collection, rain or shine, on Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Church parking lot in Pompton Lakes.
 
Bulbs accepted include fluorescent bulbs, all shapes and sizes including compact fluorescents; and LED bulbs. Batteries accepted include lithium, nicad, zinc, dry cell, rechargeable, button cell, lead acid (car). No alkaline (AA, AAA, C, etc.) batteries accepted as they are not hazardous. 
 
This event is open to residents only, no commercial businesses.

 


Medical Sharps (Syringes) Collection

SyringeThe Passaic County Office of Solid Waste and Recycling, in partnership with Mayor Khairullah, the Municipal Council and the Recycling/Clean Communities Program of the Borough of Prospect Park, will host a Medical Sharps (Syringes) Collection Event, rain or shine, on Saturday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prospect Park Municipal Building parking lot. 
 
Medical syringes are the only accepted materials. Syringes must be brought for collection in a rigid container with a lid. This event is open to residents only; no doctors' offices will be accepted.
