Wayne, NJ – Passaic County is proud to announce that Preakness Valley Golf Course has been selected to host the prestigious 97th New Jersey Public Links Championship in August 2031. This historic event will bring together the state’s top amateur public course golfers for a 36-hole stroke play competition, further solidifying Preakness Valley’s reputation as one of New Jersey’s premier public golf courses.

Preakness Valley Golf Course, located in Wayne, boasts a rich history dating back to 1931. As one of New Jersey’s oldest public courses, it has been the site of numerous significant events, including several New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) qualifying rounds and charity tournaments. Over the decades, Preakness Valley has been a destination for both seasoned players and newcomers to the game, offering a challenging yet accessible experience across its two 18-hole courses.
The course’s selection to host the 97th New Jersey Public Links Championship is a crowning achievement, recognizing its legacy and continued commitment to excellence. The championship, which is one of the oldest public links events in the country, will feature over 40 of the state’s best amateur public golfers competing in a one-day, 36-hole stroke play competition.
