Permits
Please note:
- Photography and filming in parks require a permit through the Cultural & Historic Affairs Office. A photography permit is defined by commercial photography i.e. weddings, photoshoots, etc. Please contact historicsitepermits@passaiccountynj.org or call (973) 706-6640.
- Historic Sites require permits through the Cultural & Historic Affairs Office. Information on available sites, permit requirements and fees, and required forms are available on the Historic Sites permit page. Please contact historicsitepermits@passaiccountynj.org or call (973) 706-6640.
- Sections of Rifle Camp Park in Woodland Park are currently under renovation. Please call (973) 881-4833 for current information.
Park Permit Application Information and Requirements
Permit applications must be received at least four (4) weeks prior to the desired event date.
We are now accepting permit applications for all 2024 non-athletic requests.
Athletic Field Permits Requests
A TEAM SCHEDULE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL FIELD REQUESTS: With the number of field requests we receive, we ask that you submit a complete team schedule with your application. Your dates and times must be clearly identified (mm/dd and times). Team schedules can be submitted on page 4 of the online application. Submissions will be taken in the order received based on the priorities as presented below. Please note that any application not accompanied by a complete, detailed, team schedule will not be accepted and the submission date on the application will be revised per receipt of your complete team schedule. No exceptions!
Applications for in-county athletic organizations for 2024 will be accepted in the priority system as follows:
Athletic Permit Requests from March Through June 30th submission window:
- Priority 1 (Passaic County Schools): January 10th – 19th
- Priority 2 (Passaic County Non-Profits): January 20th – 29th
- Priority 3 (Passaic County For-Profits): January 30th – February 8th
- Priority 4 (Non-County Groups): After February 9th
Athletic Permit Requests from July through November 30th submission window:
- Priority 1 (Passaic County Schools): May1st – May10th
- Priority 2 (Passaic County Non-Profits): May 11th – May 20th
- Priority 3 (Passaic County For-Profits): May 21st – May 30th
- Priority 4 (Passaic County Non-County Groups): After May 31st
Requests submitted prior to the acceptance dates will be rejected and a separate application will need to be submitted during the correct acceptance dates.
NOTE: A request for a permit, is NOT a reservation. After submitting a request, the parks office will reply to the email address on the application request and advise of date/location availability.
PAYMENT: We no longer accept cash or personal checks as payment and as of this time, we do not accept credit/debit cards. Payments can be made with a Business/Organizational check or certified funds (money orders/cashier's checks) only.
BY SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION, IT IS AFFIRMED THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE PERMIT PROCESS AND FEE INFORMATION POSTED UNDER THE "PARK PERMIT INFORMATION PACKET".
The name and photo associated with your Google account will be recorded when you upload files and submit this form.
Park Permit Instructions
A park permit is required to hold an event at the following county parks:
- Camp Hope
- Dundee Island Park
- Garret Mountain Reservation
- Goffle Brook Park
- Highlands Preserve
- Rifle Camp Park
- Weasel Brook Park
Events can include but are not limited to picnics, birthday parties, ceremonies, athletic games, camping, etc. Permits are issued on a first come, first served basis. Maps of all Passaic County parks can be found on the website, on the Parks page. After reviewing the park permit fees and information, please complete a Park Permit Application.
Please note: We suggest visiting the park location of choice, ensuring the location meets the needs of your event. We will not be responsible for events that have been requested and permitted, sight-unseen. Once an application is submitted and received, the parks staff will review the application request for availability of the park location, date and time.
