The Special Officer II class consists of over 450 hours of training mandated by the Police Training Commission.

Classes are scheduled during evening hours, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Applicants have the same entry qualifications as a regular Officer and they must be appointed as a Special Officer II/ Deputy Sheriff by a sending Police Agency first, before attendance will be approved to come to the Police Academy for this course.

Law Enforcement and County Correction agencies will be mailed a complete application package upon request.  The completed packet is due twenty-one (21) days prior to the start of the class.

Individuals cannot register for this class. You must be registered by a police department.
