The wildfire serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing drought conditions across New Jersey. Below-average rainfall has left the region vulnerable to wildfires, highlighting the importance of water conservation. Residents are encouraged to take proactive steps, including: 

• Allowing lawns to go dormant. 

• Winterizing and shutting off irrigation systems. 

• Using watering cans for essential plants or letting them go dormant. 

• Sweeping sidewalks instead of hosing them down. 

• Choosing commercial car washes that recycle water. 

These measures help conserve water and reduce the risks of further wildfire outbreaks.
